Biogerm joined Porto Space Team (FEUP) in a pioneering project of Research & Development — BioExtreme, which aims to test and validate microbiological means of transport for critical environments.

This project aims develop and validate bacterial transport and culture media resistant to extreme conditions, such as radiation, vacuum thermal variations — contributing to both applications in space as on Earth.

The project started in 2025 and is scheduled for completion in March 2029.
Depending on the results of the research, the objective will be to apply the solutions developed in the sectors in which they are most effective and relevant, reinforcing the link between science, technology and sustainability.

This partnership is an example of how science and innovation intersect to see what is not seen and expand the boundaries of microbiological research.
Biogerm is proud to support the talent and applied research of Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.
